On a sunny Saturday in February, Fortem Australia hosted a family day at the Tree Top Adventure Park in Nowra. Our participants enjoyed a day out filled with heights, challenges, adventure, and of course, some fun! It was a great chance to be active, learn some new skills and face some physical challenges, but also an opportunity for our first responder families to connect with each other and their own family.
This family-friendly activity commenced with instruction from the helpful staff, who went through a safety training and got everyone geared up with harnesses and helmets to begin the activity. After our harnessing and training, participants were able to choose where to start, either on low easy courses or test our nerves on something higher! With a variety of colour coded courses from 2m easy low courses, up to 25m adrenaline pumping ones.
This wellbeing activity featured challenging obstacle courses high up in the tree canopy, that had all the families swinging, leaping, climbing and flying through the forest. This allowed for the thrill seekers and nature enthusiasts of the group to experience the trees like never before!
After all the excitement, the families talked about their favourite parts of the day. Here are some of their responses:
- “Doing something I’ve never done”
- “Watching my daughter having so much fun and being proud of herself for being brave”
- “Teamwork and overcoming fears”
- “Ziplining and Climbing”
- “All of it”
Everyone was so thankful for Fortem Australia organising the activity, it gave people a chance to chat hang around with their family and friends and to spend some quality time together. Thank you to Matt, Abbey and staff of Tree Top Adventure Park for your help and support throughout the day.
