Have you ever wanted to master authentic Asian dishes so you can wow your friends and impress your family? Or just enjoy a home cooked, healthy meal for yourself?!
On a recent cooking class on the Gold Coast, our first responder families learnt how to cook a Gai Pad Prik King, a Dry Red Curry Prawn & Long Bean Stir Fry, as well as Fried Rice. Sounds delicious and impressive!
When our participants turned up to Icon Cookery School, they were given the recipe cards required to whip up these exciting dishes, and chose a work station.
The kitchen looked like something out of Masterchef, everyone had their own station and ingredients. Thankfully there were no judges on hand, other than everyone’s taste buds.
The chef took the participants through demonstrations, which they then had to replicate themselves. There were tears around the room when we were cutting onions, but other than that everyone was having such a great time!
After the meals were cooked, our first responders, now budding chefs and eager taste testers, moved to the dining room.
Between mouthfuls and with a certain level of surprise, everyone agreed with how good the meals tasted!
Everyone was very excited to do this wellbeing activity again. Cooking classes are a great way to build meaningful social connections with your partner or family, as well as engaging with other first responders families.
