Fortem Australia hosted our very first The Little Adventurer activity. The Little Adventurers is a program for children aged between 0 to 6 years old – similar to a playgroup, meeting monthly to explore different places within the Illawarra and Shoalhaven area. The Little Adventurers recently experienced all the fun of visiting the Symbio Wildlife Park. For our Fortem first responder families from the Illawarra region, it was a great way to not only be active and learn about the animals, but also a chance to spend time as a family, exploring the park, and making connections with others.
This wellbeing activity helped our families to connect with each other, as well as other local first responder families, as well as providing an opportunity to keep learning.
The morning started with everyone arriving at Symbio Wildlife Park, about a half an hour north of Wollongong, as people arrived they were greeted and given some park maps and wildlife feed, then headed into the park for some family time.
The Wildlife Park is a family owned and operated zoo which is located on the Southern outskirts of Sydney in the suburb of Helensburgh. Conveniently positioned on the top of the Illawarra escarpment. Nestled on 16 picturesque acres of manicured gardens, the Wildlife Park is home to all your Australian animal favourites as well as a large range of amazing exotic animals, which include cheetahs, ring-tailed lemurs, red pandas, meerkats, small monkeys and many more. Visitors to the Wildlife Park can get up close and personal to all the Australian animal favourites, feed and interact with our large mob of kangaroos.
At around 12.30 pm we all met back at the farmyard animal picnic area for some lunch, which gave everyone a chance to chat and just hang out. It was a great time to catch up with everyone and see how their morning was going. After lunch, we continued our walk around the wildlife park.
Our next The Little Adventurer activity is on Monday 17 May 2021, register your interest here.
