Suicide first-aid training to build strength in first responder community – register now!

As a first responder or family member you probably have extensive training in how to keep people physically safe. You are encouraged to keep skills like CPR up to date as part of your professional and personal toolkit but what about when it comes to keeping someone (the community, your colleagues and peers, a family member or even yourself) safe from suicide?

It’s time to upskill in suicide first aid.

Fortem Australia has partnered with LivingWorks, a global leader in suicide first aid training to support first responder families wishing to upskill and learn suicide first aid.

Taking part in this training is a step towards demystifying mental health issues and therefore taking some of the fear out of noticing and addressing suicide and mental distress in those around you.

You will be empowered to confidently reach into moments of crisis and be an effective support, or at least not inflame the situation.

We know first-hand from first responders that many of the situations faced on the job increasingly involve people in mental distress and expressing suicidal behaviour.

We also know that suicidal thinking is higher within the first responder community than the general public and that families of first responders risk developing secondary traumatic stress from vicarious exposure to trauma through their loved ones.

Don’t miss this chance to add invaluable skills to your professional and personal toolkit. Saving lives means first aid for suicide – within the first responder community and wider local community.
