Saturday 15th May 2021 was International Day of Families and first responder families were treated to a Family Fun Day at Currumbin on the Gold Coast. It was a great way to connect and get active, with a magical children’s party for the kids, and lawn games and stand up paddle boarding lessons for the grown up’s.
Participants came to Currumbin on a beautiful sunny day on the Gold Coast without a cloud in the sky (not to brag). The children were so excited when they were told that a special guest would be appearing, only to be outdone when they learnt that a magician was going to be at the party!
The children were treated to a party featuring a comedy magic show. They laughed and danced, as well as playing limbo, ‘cops and robbers’, and musical statues. It was great to see the children connecting by making friends during the party. Their parents also connected with other parents while their children were taking part in the childrens party.
At the end of the party was a treasure hunt to find a box full of balloons that the magician twisted into all sorts of shapes, including dogs, lions, flowers, swords, and butterfly wings.
During all of the excitement, parents were able to go stand up paddling and play some lawn games. After the party, lunch was served by The Lions Club that went down a treat.
The afternoon was very relaxed with families coming and going as they pleased, playing footy, badminton, cornhole and frisbee. Some moved towards the beach to build sandcastles and continue stand up paddling.
Everyone was tuckered out at the end of the day so it was time to head home for a nap (for young and old).
“Great event and great team from Fortem.”
“Great, fun day thank you so much.”
