First responder families, join us for a series of surfing lessons! This program will go for 4 weeks from the 27th May until the 17th of June, with each surfing lesson 1 hour 45mins in duration. The program includes surf lessons with an experienced coach, surf board and wetsuit hire. Skill levels can range from beginner to advanced.

It’s a great way to spend time with your family member, being active and challenging yourself, as well as connecting and socialising with other local first responders. Developing close relationships and socialising with friends, family and others, is important to build your mental fitness and boost your wellbeing. Plus you can get active and learn a new skill! This Fortem activity can help improve and maintain a healthy level of physical activity, which can assist with building wellness and resilience, coping with stress, and is positively associated with mental fitness. Learning to surf requires and helps develop tenacity and a willingness to keep trying despite set backs  – building mental fitness and resilience whilst having fun.

This free wellbeing activity is for first responder families (check eligibility here). Suitable for one adult, registering just themselves, or with a second adult. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly.
