Art Masterpiece Series | Melbourne

Would you like to learn how to paint? Grab your partner or colleague, and learn how to paint with this free series of two hour art classes. They will be held fortnightly over 4 sessions in the western suburbs of Melbourne, to help first responders learn the art of acrylic painting and create your own art masterpieces. During each session, you will be guided by the local artist who will provide step-by-step instructions and walk around the room, so that you can get the most out of the experience and don’t get left behind. These classes are suitable for people who are beginners or if you have never painted before, as you will be guided every step of the way!

These classes will be held on the below times and participants will learn to paint the following:

Class 1: Tuesday, 31st August – Twilight sparkle painting

Class 2: Tuesday, 14th September – Paradise sunset painting

Class 3: Tuesday, 28th September – Midnight moon painting

Class 4: Tuesday, 12th October – Whales’ tale painting.

You are encouraged to attend each of the four classes to build upon your skills and techniques from the previous class (we understand that shift work may make this difficult and can make allowances for that). You will be able to take your paintings home with you.

After the class, join us for refreshments where the group can sit together and meet other first responders and their partners, and share their creations with the other participants in the class. This wellbeing activity is a great way to connect with local first responders and their partners whilst you create art, as well as develop bonds with someone from your family or kinship group. An excellent way to gain the benefits of learning a new skill, this wellbeing activity also provides an opportunity for physical and mental stimulation which promotes self-esteem and contributes to self-identity. Being artistic can be a mindful activity, allowing you to be ‘in the moment’ while creating your artwork and achieving a sense of accomplishment.

This free wellbeing activity is for first responder families (check eligibility here). Suitable for all skill levels. For adults only. Bring along your partner, adult family member or someone from your kinship group, or encourage a first responder colleague to register too. Painting materials will be provided by the supplier and participants will learn how to paint a different painting in each class. Refreshments included. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly. Restrictions apply in line with current COVID regulations.
