Have you ever wanted to try making your own silver jewellery? Well, now you can in this beginners workshop. You will learn traditional Silversmith techniques including soldering, sawing, forming, hand texturing and finishing. You will receive a piece of copper sheet for practice and a piece of silver sheet & wire for the final masterpieces and will learn how to make a ring. Make something for yourself or for a friend! This workshop runs for 1.5 hours. An earlier session will run at 10am.
This Fortem activity can help improve self-esteem and contribution to self-identity through mental and physical stimulation provided by working on crafting project. Crafting can be a mindful activity, allowing you to be ‘in the moment’. It’s also a great way to build meaningful social connections with children in your family or kinship group, as well as engaging with other first responders families. Having a shared experience in learning a new skill can give you a sense of achievement, build confidence and be fun!
This activity is free for first responder families. The workshop is suitable for ages 10+. Please note that children aged 10-13 will need a parent/ guardian to take part in the workshop. Children aged 14+ can take part without parent involvement. All safely equipment including hand sanitizer and a clean work space area is provided. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly.
