First responder families, join us for a guided electric bike day tour to enjoy the picturesque landscapes of country Victoria. We will be rewarded for our efforts enjoying a delicious lunch whilst we relax our minds and muscles by the water. The trail takes us through 21 kilometres of majestic native forests, rich and expansive farmland, picturesque waterways, and past heritage landmarks and historical sites.

This is a great way to strengthen family / kinship group bonds, as well as to broaden your social network through connection with other first responder families. Connection is an important part of the path to mental fitness, and can take a protective role in maintaining wellbeing through increased feelings of happiness, security, belonging and self-worth. We’ll also be keeping active, which helps to build resilience and wellbeing, and plays a major role in maintaining mental fitness. It helps us to cope with stress, gives us more energy and confidence, as well as improving mood and quality of sleep.

This activity is also promotes learning of new skills, approaches, and information – which can improve our knowledge and thinking skills, increasing confidence, sense of purpose, and ability to cope with stress. Being in the present moment – promoted by spending time in nature and moving mindfully –  is a great way to gain perspective, increase resilience, and reduces stress. Presence of mind (‘mindfulness’) has a range of benefits in building mental fitness including greater self-awareness, increased adaptability, and better recognising how and when to seek help.

This activity is free for first responder families. Register yourself, and up to one other adult or teenager aged 16+ (your partner, family member or someone from your kinship group). Encourage a first responder colleague to register too. You are also most welcome to come by yourself! Please note that our start location is just under 2 hours’ drive from Melbourne CBD. E-Bike, helmet, custom bike and helmet fitting, bike operation & safety briefing included. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly. Restrictions apply in line with current COVID regulations.
