Join us for a 4 week family surfing program consisting of 2hr lessons on Saturday mornings, followed by coffee at the local café on the beach. This Fortem activity is a great way to connect with other local first responder families, plus you can get active and learn a new skill! Surfing can help improve and maintain a healthy level of physical activity, which can assist with building wellness and resilience, coping with stress, and is positively associated with mental fitness. Connecting to nature and spending time outdoors is associated with greater levels of happiness. Fortem activities can also contribute to improved connection and bonds with family and your community.
This activity is free for first responder families. Children can be registered as part of a family, minimum age 5 years. Children must be supervised. Surfing equipment (surf boards, wet suits, rashies) is provided. Participants need to bring swimmers and a towel. This activity is weather dependent. Participants will be contacted if lesson need to be rescheduled or change location due to the weather/surf conditions. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly.
This is a small group activity with limited numbers. Note, registration is not complete until you receive a confirmation email from the Fortem activities team.
