First responder families – looking for a fun family activity on a Friday night over winter? Minute to Win It Challenges are a great way for young and old to have fun and a little bit of friendly competition between family members and your fellow first responder teams. There are some fun prizes to be won and supper is provided. This is definitely a night for everyone to join in, adults, families and kinship groups with children, teenagers, young adults and oldies! Come and have a laugh, and connect with other first responders and their families. Have you ever done the Oreo Face Challenge, Stacking Apples or Speed Trivia? Minute to Win It activities might require some patient hand eye coordination, balance or creativity. If you don’t have any of those, then use your family or team and mix with a little sense of humour and you’ll have a fun night. It’s a night for connecting, learning and helping others in your team.
This is a great way to strengthen family / kinship group bonds and resilience, as well as to connect with other first responder families. Connection is an important part of the path to mental fitness, and can take a protective role in maintaining wellbeing. Strategic and creative challenges offer an opportunity to be mindful; great way to gain perspective, increase resilience, and reduces stress. Being in the present moment has a range of benefits in building mental fitness including greater self-awareness, and knowing how and when to seek help. First responders are known for the ways in which they help others. This activity encourages teamwork, increasing confidence and the ability to cope with challenges.
This activity is free for first responder families. Suitable for all ages. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly.
