Kiah Kayaking Tour September | Bega Valley
First responder families, join us for an early morning kayaking tour to take in the beauty and stillness of the secluded Towamba River. Unwind in the peace and seclusion of the bush, listen to the bird calls as you peacefully glide down the river. All equipment and a delicious home cooked morning tea included. Kayaking offers many benefits to participants – learning and sharing new skills and also staying active. Being in nature gives participants the opportunity to relax and unwind, whilst learning about the local area and native wildlife. It’s also a great way to spend time with your family or kinship group, be active, challenge yourself and develop close family bonds. It’s also great to connect and socialise with other local first responder families. Developing close relationships and socialising with friends, family and others, is important to build your mental fitness and boost your wellbeing.
This free wellbeing activity is for first responder families (for eligibility: find out Who We Support). Children must be 8 years and over. Equipment provided, including a sit-on-top kayak, binoculars, 50+ sunscreen, fresh filtered rainwater. Morning tea, usually muffins or fresh fruit, plus plunge coffee or tea and juice. Please bring towel, swimmers, hat, sunglasses, camera and mobile phone. It is preferable to wear shoes that can get wet – reef shoes, crocs, old sandshoes. Thongs are okay but can be difficult to walk in – in water. We can hire you a pair of reef shoes.
This activity is weather dependent. Participants will be contacted if lesson need to be rescheduled or change location due to the weather. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly.
