First responder families, join us for a workshop on making Kokedamas! Kokedama is Japanese for “moss ball” and is a style of potting plants in a ball of moss. You will be provided with the basic materials, and can take your piece home to display after the 1.5 hour workshop!
This Fortem activity can help improve self-esteem and contribution to self-identity through mental and physical stimulation provided by working on crafting project. Crafting can be a mindful activity, allowing you to be ‘in the moment’. It’s a great way to spend time with your family or support network, challenge yourself and develop close bonds. It’s also a great way to build meaningful social connections by engaging with other first responders families. Having a shared experience in learning a new skill can give you a sense of achievement, build confidence and be fun!
