‘Little Adventurer’s’ let’s explore the Farm! Let’s discover the 11-acre permaculture farm, which produces fruit, vegetables, herbs, eggs, honey and free-range meat using organic principles. We will tour the market gardens, the food forest where the fruit is slowly producing, and the bush regeneration site that nourishes the farm and the land in so many ways. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet some of the animals including the free-range sheep, goats, pigs and chickens who love a good feed. We can also spend time in the children’s garden and education hub, with sandpit, mud kitchen, resident ducks and maybe go on a bug hunt.
Please note, the site is a working farm and visitors must participate in a safety briefing before entering. The terrain at the farm is particularly steep and slippery in parts. Though we do take it slowly, the tour involves a moderate walk with hills and is not accessible for prams, wheelchairs, or people with moderate mobility issues. Allergen advice: Our farm is home to domestic animals as well as bees, wasps, and macadamia trees. Please pack an EpiPen if allergic and keep it with you at all times.
The Little Adventurer is a monthly group for families with kids aged 0 to 6 years old that has amazing adventures around the local area together. It is a great opportunity for first responder families to get out and explore the local area, be active and make connections with their own, as well as other families, contributing to the development of close family relationships and help building social connections. Walking is a means of improving and maintaining physical health, improving sleep patterns and relieving stress for your mental health. Nature is the perfect classroom. It provides endless opportunities for students and children to learn about the real world in meaningful ways.
This activity is free for first responder families. Aimed at children aged 0 to 6. Morning tea is included. Please wear enclosed shoes or boots (sorry no thongs or sandals allowed) and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Long pants are recommended. Bring a hat and sunscreen or rain gear, depending on the weather forecast. The activity will proceed in wet weather (unless there is a dangerous storm). Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly.
