Loom Weaving Workshop | Bega Valley Region
First responder families, join us for a creative and relaxing morning of loom weaving, plus morning tea! In this 3 hour introductory workshop, we will learn how to warp a timber loom and explore a variety of textiles and weaving techniques. Experiment with colour combinations, lines, shape, form and texture to create your very own beautiful tapestry. Weaving improves your mood, awakens creativity, and is a beautiful way to connect with family and make new friends. All materials will be supplied.
This workshop is suitable for children aged 6 years and above. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
This wellbeing activity is a great way to connect with local first responder families whilst you craft, as well as develop bonds with your own family. Challenging our minds with new skills, approaches, and information can improve our knowledge and thinking skills, increasing confidence, sense of purpose, and ability to cope with stress. Being in the present moment is a great way to gain perspective, increase resilience, and reduces stress. Presence of mind (‘mindfulness’) has a range of benefits in building mental fitness including greater self-awareness, increased adaptability, and better recognising how and when to seek help.
This free wellbeing activity is for first responder families (check eligibility here). Suitable for all skill levels. Children must be 6 years and over. Snacks will be provided. Please bring a jumper, water bottle (and glasses if you need them for close up work!). Please arrive 10 minutes prior to starting.
