Are you interested in joining us for a series of three Greek cooking classes? We are calling for expressions of interest from Melbourne first responder families! These one hour online classes, taught over the course of three weeks, will help you master some classic Greek dishes. This small group cooking class will be a great opportunity to socialise and connect with others over a love of cooking and shared learning experience. Group cooking programs have been associated with a positive influence on a range of psychosocial factors including self-esteem, social interaction, quality or life, psychological wellbeing, and reduction in anxiety.
Participants must be available for all three classes:
Class 1 – Nov 12th Lamb, mint and rice Dolmades in a rich tomato and oregano sauce with Homemade Greek Halloumi
Class 2 – Nov 19th Oregano and Lemon Lamb Pilaf with cracked wheat, orzo and tomato with Grilled homemade Halloumi salad with zucchini, black olives, tomato, dried figs, mint, and lemon
Class 3 – Nov 26th Greek Honey, Walnut and Cinnamon Baklava with “Galaktoubouriko” Greek style Vanilla slice
Once you are confirmed to attend the class, BangPop will deliver the ingredients and cheese making equipment (for participants to keep) to your house on the morning of the class. That evening you’ll be invited to join a Zoom meeting via your smartphone, tablet or laptop where you’ll be guided through the cooking by BangPop’s chef.
Ingredients will be provided to cater for one person or two people, please let us know in the registration form. Allergans may be present: please contact us if you require details. For participants further than 50km from South Wharf, you will need to source own ingredients. A list of required ingredients can be provided.
This activity is free for first responders (eligibility here) in the Melbourne area and is suitable for adults and teenagers, of all levels of culinary expertise. You will need a reliable internet connection with a device capable of supporting Zoom video conferencing.
