Restorative Yoga 8 Week Program | Melbourne
First responder families join us for an 8 week restorative yoga program. This series of classes have been designed for first responders to encourage an uplifted and calm feeling in the body and in the mind. The class is for 75 min, followed by tea & a chat. The focus of the class is to stretch the muscles, improve joint range of movement and to calm the nervous system. The experienced yoga instructor will support participants in learning yoga postures that are simple, slow and designed to flow at a pace that is easy to follow. This yoga class is most appropriate for beginners to the middle level experienced yoga practitioner who may want a slower paced class.
It’s a great chance to learn useful mindfulness techniques to support your wellbeing and build your mental fitness, as well as improving your physical agility. You can also spend time with your family or kinship group, developing close bonds as you learn. It’s also great to connect and socialise with other local first responder families. Developing close relationships and socialising with friends, family and others, is important to build your mental fitness and boost your wellbeing.
The recommendation is to attend each weekly class in order to build upon the postures and improvements gained from the week before, however due to the nature of first responder work, this is only a guide and we welcome any level of commitment throughout the 8 weeks. Starts 6th July and goes to 24th August 2021. UPDATE: Extended until 21st Sept.
This free wellbeing activity is for first responder families (check eligibility here). You can register another adult, or teenager (minimum age 15), from your family or kinship group. Or you could encourage a fellow first responder colleague to register too.
Please wear appropriate comfortable clothing and bring your own mat, block and strap (available to use at the studio if you don’t have them) as these props assist the body to relax into comfortable postures making your class much more enjoyable and useful! You are welcome to contact the instructor before registering for the class to discuss any concerns that you have about participating in this class.
