First responder families with kids aged 5–9-year-olds, let’s make slime and bubbly volcanoes! Keep your children entertained, socialising with other kids and developing science or art skills. This school holiday activity combines the opportunity for some well deserved time out for first responder parents to have a cup of tea whilst your children are participating in a fun activity. Parents are welcome to supervise their children if they prefer. Children will learn how to make the ever popular slime and bubbly volcanos. Classes will run for 90 minutes each.
This Fortem activity can help improve children’s self-esteem and contribution to self-identity through mental and physical stimulation provided by working on crafting project. Crafting can be a mindful activity, allowing you to be ‘in the moment’. It’s also a great way to build meaningful social connections by engaging with other first responders families. Having a shared experience in learning a new skill and getting to know “how things work” can provide a sense of achievement, build confidence, and be great fun! It’s also a great opportunity to connect with other first responders and their families, boosting your social well-being by broadening social networks and range of relationships with others in the wider community.
This wellbeing activity is free for first responder families. Suitable for children aged 5-9, registering with a first responder family member, carer or guardian. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule or make it a virtual event, and will notify participants accordingly.
