Learn to Surf and Mindfulness Session | Illawarra
What an amazing opportunity to learn some essential surfing skills and bring some mindfulness into your day too. The surf school will demonstrate surf safety, surfing equipment, correct surfing technique, and then assist in wave selection and assist in board riding appropriate to each individual’s physical ability. They will then conclude with a short mindfulness practice. The learn to surf session is an adults only program commencing at 11am for some light refreshments, and then from 12 noon to 2pm the learn to surf session will begin.
This Fortem activity can help improve and maintain a healthy level of physical and mental health, and the overall feeling of well-being and fitness that you feel after a surf. Connecting to nature and spending time outdoors is associated with greater levels of happiness. Fortem activities can also contribute to improved connection with family and peers. Good personal relationships are protective for wellbeing.
This activity is free for first responder families. Surfing equipment is provided. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly.
