Learn the art of traditional Turkish mosaic lamp making! First responder families, join us for this two-and-a-half-hour class, where you will learn the techniques of a 500-year ancient craft and practice assembling geometric patterns as well as historic techniques for laying the tiles (tesserae). Using your selected geometric template, you will be guided to create and take home your very own Mosaic Table Lamp. Unleash your inner creativity and discover your full artistic capabilities. You’ll also enjoy sumptuous Turkish tea service, delectable treats and homemade Turkish shortbread cookies.
This wellbeing activity is a great way to connect with other local first responder families, as well as develop bonds with your partner, another adult from your kinship group or teenage family member. This Fortem activity can help improve self-esteem and contribution to self-identity through mental and physical stimulation provided by working on crafting project. Crafting can be a mindful activity, allowing you to be ‘in the moment’ while creating your project and achieving a sense of accomplishment.
This free wellbeing activity is for first responder families (check eligibility). Suitable for adults, or for adult registering themselves, along with a teenager 16+. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly.
