This Walk, Snap and Explore activity is a great opportunity for first responder families to get out and explore the local area, be active and make connections, whilst learning some essential photography skills. In this intimate group activity, participants will spend the day with a professional photographer exploring some of the sites in central Canberra, and learning how to use their camera. Studies show learning throughout life can help us find purpose, meaning and more enjoyment in life, as well as improve our knowledge, thinking skills and ability to cope with stress.

This activity is suitable for beginners, however participants will need to bring their own equipment, including:

  • digital DSLR camera preferably with interchangeable lenses (but not essential)
  • laptop if they have one (but not essential)
  • 8gb flash drive
  • backpack (to carry laptop)

This free wellbeing activity is for first responder families, adults only (Check eligibility here). The workshop will involve quite a bit of walking so please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, water and face-mask (in case it is a requirement for areas we visit). We’ll stop for lunch along the way, which will be provided by Fortem. Fortem is currently monitoring COVID guidelines closely and may reschedule this event and notify participants accordingly.

This is a small group activity with limited places available. Please submit the registration form below to express your interest in attending. Note registration is not complete until confirmation has been received from the Fortem team.
