Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb – there’s still time to donate

The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb took place in September, and this year it was a virtual event due to lockdown.

The 2021 event has raised more than $200,000 for Fortem Australia, Lifeline and The Triple Zero Foundation.

“It went really well: we had 500 participants including firefighters, police, ambulance, SES and more,” says Event Director Steve Axup.

“The event is focused on raising money for mental health. We had a spate of half a dozen suicides of firefighters within 18 months, and it rocked the service I work for and firefighters generally, so we realised that mental health had to be our focus.

“Fortem is the perfect match for us, and we hope to assist as they broaden across Australia. We’re looking forward to a long partnership.”

Fortem is grateful to be part of this event. “The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb inspires others to make ground on their own mental health and wellbeing,” says James Maskey, Fortem’s Engagement Manager.

“The support of the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb will enable us to support more people and to go further. Thank you for supporting Fortem Australia.”

Donations are still open into November – you can donate here.
