Humans are social creatures. Connection contributes significantly to our wellbeing and how we feel each day. This social connectedness helps to protect us against the effects of exposure to traumatic events.
However, it’s not uncommon for our support networks to be disrupted following a disaster or traumatic event, just when we need them most. Acknowledging the importance of those connections and taking steps to maintain them is key.
