Recently a group of first responder families from the Northern NSW region had the chance to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Flow Martial Arts. Just like the last time the Jiu Jitsu activity happened, it was a great opportunity to connect, be active and keep learning. These are some of the secrets to helping our first responder families build their mental fitness, read more about Our Approach here.
It was a rainy day in Kingscliff when our first responder families arrived, but they soon warmed up and connected with each other as they did. The families were taken through a warm-up that consisted of games that engaged the children. One little girl didn’t want to let go of her dad and so he carried her throughout the warm up.
The group was then split into groups to go through some movements, which resulted in lots of laughter. The activity was wrapped up with a game of ‘O-U-T’ where participants had to race each other to get to the right marker. The kids beat the adults with ease.
With non-stop laughter from young and old and continuous smiles throughout the activity, another chance came for socialising and forming connections with a coffee/babychino and a cake.
