The Little Adventurers go on a Magical Leaf Hunt

The Little Adventurers recently experienced all the fun of visiting the Wollongong Botanic Garden. The Little Adventurers is a program hosted by Fortem Australia for families with children aged between 0 to 6 years old – similar to a playgroup, meeting monthly to explore different places within the Illawarra and Shoalhaven area.

In this adventure, we had six participants attend, who came along to explore the magical gardens to search for special leaves and learn how to plant seeds. We even discovered a panda high up in the bamboo! It was a great way to not only be active and learn about the plants, but also a chance to spend time as a family, exploring the gardens, and making connections with others.

“Thank you for a great day. We loved being outdoors. We loved learning about nature and the outdoor picnic was super special.”

This was a small group activity, which included two sessions each running for 30 to 40 minutes. The two sessions included a leaf hunt and growing plants from seeds.

On this magical adventure, we looked closely at plants and took a journey through the gardens to see how many leaf shapes we could match and find.

After the first session, we stopped for a picnic and play in the park, then finished off on our final activity.

“Thank you so much for yesterday. We had such a great day. Everything was perfect and so much fun.”
