Transition & Employment Program
Fortem supports first responders and their families to transition into post-service life.
Transition to your new lifestyle
Talk to us about your post-service lifestyle, including assistance to transition into retirement, or referrals to other services that can help.
Support first responder families
Fortem will support your family through this transition. Our wellbeing activities, clinical services and Transition & Employment Program are all on offer to those closest to you. This is part of our mission to boost the mental fitness and wellbeing of first responders and their families.
Plan your next career move
Fortem’s Transition & Employment Program supports first responders who are looking for post-service career opportunities. Together, we plan the career pathway that’s right for you.
One-on-one employment support
We can help you secure your next role, with interview coaching, resume and job application assistance, networking and mentoring, and ongoing employment support.
Initial contact with our team can be made via your agency or self-referral.
The Transition & Employment Program that’s tailored to your needs
We understand that members of the first responder community are effective and committed leaders, team members and problem solvers. First responders have a variety of transferable skills and a broad range of interests.
Fortem’s Transition & Employment Program is shaped around your goals and background. You can choose the ways in which you need assistance, and create your own pathway with the support of the Fortem team.
We invite you to work with us to design your own transition pathway.
Starting 1 July, 2021, phase one of our national program is focusing on supporting transitioning members from Australia’s national security agencies, including:
- Australian Border Force
- Australian Federal Police
- State-based law enforcement agencies
Phase two will support ALL state-based first responders and their families. We are currently working towards rolling out this part of our program.
Meet our Transition & Employment team
Our Transition Case Managers have lived experience in various first responder agencies. They have all travelled the career transition path, they can relate to the challenges and emotions you might be experiencing, and they hold specialist training and skills to support transitioning first responders and families.
Our team is looking forward to working side-by-side with you to achieve a successful transition from your current service to your next opportunity.
