From extreme weather events to house fires, medical emergencies to security incidents, our first responders are always there to help us through it.
A national celebration of first responders kicks off today with 10 days of gratitude to recognise the exceptional service that first responders provide to all Australians.
The 10 days precede Thank a First Responder Day on Wednesday 11 June which recognises the sacrifices first responders and their families make every day to keep the community safe.
Now in its sixth year, Thank a First Responder Day creates a clear and resounding voice of gratitude for the frontline workers and volunteers who do so much, often for very little thanks or recognition. It was created by Fortem Australia, the nation’s leading independent and not-for-profit organisation supporting the mental health and wellbeing of first responders and their families.
Day 1 of the 10 days of gratitude recognises the amazing men and women who are there when disaster strikes.
Whether it’s a natural disaster or a personal emergency, they are first on the scene, often putting their own safety at risk to help those in need.
They are the police officers, firefighters and paramedics who rush to the scene under lights and sirens. The volunteers who give up their own time to respond. The support staff who stand behind them.
They dedicate their lives to helping us and on today’s day of gratitude, we say thank you!
And we also say thank you to the families of those first responders who are there when disaster strikes. You give up so much so your loved ones can be there for us. So, thank you!
Don’t forget to share your love for all first responders and their families do with our Triple Zero with Heart symbol 0❤️0. Draw it on your hand, snap a photo and share it on social media during the 10 days of gratitude. Let’s get the whole country involved in showing our gratitude! #ThankAFirstResponder #PowerOfThanks #TAFRD
You can also leave a message of gratitude on the Thank a First Responder Day website at Gratitude Gallery – Fortem Australia.
