They are often the first people we speak to during an emergency – the calm voice at the end of the phone taking our call and sending help on the way.
Today is Day 10 of Fortem’s 10 days of gratitude – a day to say thank you to who take our emergency calls.
The 10 days of gratitude is a celebration of all that first responders do to support our communities ahead of Thank a First Responder Day on Wednesday 11 June.
Now in its sixth year, Thank a First Responder Day creates a clear and resounding voice of gratitude for the frontline workers and volunteers who do so much, often for very little thanks or recognition. It was created by Fortem Australia, the nation’s leading independent and not-for-profit organisation supporting the mental health and wellbeing of first responders and their families.
Emergency call takers do an amazing job, often under immense pressure. They need to act quickly in high-stress situations, often while dealing with people in crisis who are stressed and scared. It’s a critical role among our first responders and these people deserve our praise and appreciation.
Don’t forget to share your love for all first responders and their families do with our Triple Zero with Heart symbol 0❤️0. Draw it on your hand, snap a photo and share it on social media during the 10 days of gratitude. Let’s get the whole country involved in showing our gratitude! #ThankAFirstResponder #PowerOfThanks #TAFRD
You can also leave a message of gratitude on the Thank a First Responder Day website at Gratitude Gallery – Fortem Australia.
