A small gesture can have a lasting impact.
Welcome to our Thank a First Responder Day shop, where every purchase you make helps us recognise and support first responders and their families.
Thank a First Responder Day also serves as Fortem’s primary annual fundraiser, with money raised helping support our work delivering mental health and wellbeing programs and services for first responders and their families. As a not-for-profit organisation, Fortem relies on donors, funding partnerships and grants to support the mental health and wellbeing of first responders, their families and former first responders.

Celebrate Thank a First Responder Day 2026 with the inspiring children’s book Remember: Triple Zero Heroes. Proudly created in partnership with Hawkeye Publishing and author J. E. Miller, this story helps young readers understand and appreciate the vital role of first responders.
After an overwhelming response to our initial release with gifted copies quickly snapped up by schools, libraries and early learning centres, we are excited to now offer additional copies for purchase at a discounted rate.
As numbers are limited, we encourage early orders to avoid missing out, and while we’ll prioritise timely dispatch, books can only be guaranteed to arrive before Thank a First Responder Day if ordered with sufficient lead time.
J. E. Miller’s Remember: Triple Zero Heroes follows a young child stepping into different shoes attending an ANZAC Parade to experience life through another’s eyes, for just a moment.
The child becomes a fireman, a police officer with a sniffer dog, a paramedic, a mounted police officer, an SES floodboat operator, and more. All of these stories are based on real-life experiences.
J. E. Miller writes inspiring stories for the young and young at heart. Her focus on magical realism stems from a lifelong appreciation of the genre, often mistaken for fantasy, and the way it addresses contemporary social questions through drawing from legends, fables, and myths from our past.
J.E. Miller is a former first responder and holds a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English Literature, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (applied learning) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology (neuroscience/developmental psychology)

Ten of Australia’s most talented songwriters and performers have collaborated to create an album called We See You. The songwriters on this album have all focused on an area that means something special to them – to put a face to the first responders who risk their own lives, to protect the lives of others.
We See You acknowledges all the first responders who do extraordinary jobs every day and the families who stand behind them.
