Fortem extends a heartfelt thank you to the many hundreds of schools, libraries, businesses, councils, community groups, members of Parliament and individuals who helped make this year’s Thank a First Responder Day a success.
Thank a First Responder Day was held on Wednesday 11 June and encouraged the community to give thanks for the incredible work first responders do and the families that support them.
First responders and their families across Australia received an outpouring of gratitude from the community. Events were held across the country, cards and mementos were dropped at stations and messages of gratitude flooded social media.
School children led much of the gratitude, holding dress-up days, inviting first responders to their schools and holding fundraisers to support first responder mental health and wellbeing.
The day also received extensive media coverage around the country, making sure first responders and their families knew just how appreciated they were.
This year, Thank a First Responder Day was preceded by 10 days of gratitude, amplifying the gratitude and providing a special opportunity to recognise the families who sacrifice so much to ensure their first responder loved ones can be there for the community.
