Behind every first responder is a family making sacrifices alongside them.
Today is Day 7 of Fortem’s 10 Days of Gratitude – a day to thank the first responder families who support their loved ones through the demands of frontline service.
The 10 Days of Gratitude is a celebration of all that first responders do to support our communities but also the incredible families who stand beside them at home.
First responder families know what it means to adapt plans at the last minute, celebrate milestones on different days, and spend birthdays, holidays and weekends apart. They understand the unpredictability of emergency service life and provide unwavering support through long shifts, stressful incidents and uncertain nights.
Their support helps first responders continue to do the critical work our communities rely on every day.
Today we recognise the partners, children, parents, siblings and loved ones who share in the sacrifices of service and remind them that their contribution matters too.
Today, Australians are encouraged to turn gratitude into action by thanking the families who stand beside first responders through the challenges of service.
