Day 9: Thank you to those who respond from the air.

When emergencies happen in hard-to-reach places, first responders in the air help bring support, safety and hope from above.

Today is Day 9 of Fortem’s 10 Days of Gratitude – a day to thank the first responders who respond from the air.

Aerial first responders play a critical role during emergencies. From search and rescue operations and medical evacuations to firefighting support, flood response and surveillance, these teams provide assistance in situations where speed and visibility are vital.

Their work often takes place in dangerous and high-pressure conditions, requiring exceptional skill, teamwork and focus.

Today we thank the pilots, air crews and aerial support teams who work tirelessly above our communities to help protect lives on the ground.

Whether supporting emergency crews, locating missing people or delivering help to isolated communities, these teams continue showing up wherever they are needed most. Today, Australians are encouraged to turn gratitude into action by recognising the aerial response crews providing rescue, emergency and disaster support from above.
