Day 10:  Thank you to those who take our emergency calls.

In an emergency, the first voice we often hear is calm, reassuring and ready to help.

Today is Day 10 of Fortem’s 10 Days of Gratitude – a day to thank the emergency call takers who answer calls for help during times of crisis.

Emergency call takers perform an essential role within the first responder network. Every day they respond to people experiencing fear, panic, confusion and trauma, all while remaining calm and focused under pressure.

They gather critical information, provide reassurance and coordinate emergency responses that help save lives.

While their work often happens behind the scenes, emergency call takers are an important part of every emergency response and deserve our recognition and gratitude.

As we wrap up Fortem’s 10 Days of Gratitude, today we thank every emergency call taker for their professionalism, compassion and commitment to supporting Australians in times of need.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 10 June, communities across the country will come together to celebrate Thank a First Responder Day with events, activities and messages of appreciation recognising the incredible contribution first responders and their families make to keeping Australians safe.

In people’s most stressful and frightening moments, emergency call takers are often the calm voice guiding them through crisis. Today, Australians are encouraged to turn gratitude into action by thanking the emergency call takers who provide reassurance, support and help when it matters most.

Leave your message of thanks in Fortem Australia’s Gratitude Gallery.
