Day 8: Thank you to those who are there both day and night.

Emergencies don’t stop after business hours, which means first responders are always ready to answer the call.

Today is Day 8 of Fortem’s 10 Days of Gratitude – a day to thank the first responders who work around the clock to keep our communities safe.

Whether it’s overnight shifts, early morning starts, weekends, public holidays or being called away from family dinners, first responders make countless sacrifices to ensure help is always available when people need it most.

While many Australians sleep, celebrate or spend time with loved ones, first responders remain on duty, responding to emergencies and supporting their communities.

Today we thank every first responder working long hours and unpredictable shifts, as well as the families who support them through those demands.

No matter the hour, first responders continue showing up to protect and support communities across Australia. Today, Australians are encouraged to turn gratitude into action by thanking the first responders who work nights, weekends, public holidays and long shifts to keep communities safe every hour of the day.
