Accomplished television and print journalist Ashlee Mullany has this week joined the ranks of Fortem’s ambassadors, helping to support the mental health and wellbeing of first responders and their families.
Ashlee recently returned to Australia after eight years as a foreign correspondent where she reported from the frontline of the war in Israel, natural disasters in Africa, terror attacks and, more recently, the devastating wild fires in Los Angeles. Prior to that she worked at media outlets in Australia.
She has witnessed first-hand the heroics of first responders and the toll of continued exposure to some of the most harrowing events in history, both overseas and in Australia, and is committed to helping make a difference.
Ashlee’s appointment follows that of another ambassador, Mark Meredith APM OAM, a Detective Sergeant and Investigations Manager with the Orana Mid-Western Police District, who came on board with Fortem late last year.
Having served with the New South Wales Police Force since January 1988, he is deeply committed to teamwork and supporting the community, with his dedication earning him significant recognition, including the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) and the Australian Police Medal (APM).
Mark’s passion for mental health advocacy and his own personal journey naturally led him to Fortem Australia, where he feels a deep connection with Fortem’s mission to support first responders and their families.
Fortem is delighted to welcome them both.

Fortem’s ambassadors are critical to advancing our mission to support the mental health, wellbeing and career management journeys of first responders and their families. They serve as powerful voices to foster connection and understanding about the critical role first responders play in our communities and the importance of mental fitness and long-term mental health and wellbeing.
