In June, some of Australia’s most recognisable landmarks will light up in teal to honour the people who keep our communities safe every day.
From AAMI Park in Melbourne and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane to the Shine Dome in Canberra and The Big Banana in Coffs Harbour, the nation will glow in support of our first responders.
Joining them are the striking Sky Ribbon in Western Australia, the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, the paranaple Convention Centre in Tasmania, the Palmerston Water Tower in the Northern Territory, and Parliament House buildings in both South Australia and Queensland, with many more locations set to participate.
Lighting up these landmarks is just one of the many ways communities across Australia show their gratitude to local first responders, serving as a powerful symbol of appreciation and unity.
Thank a First Responder Day, held this year on Wednesday 10 June 2026, is a national initiative by Fortem Australia. The day recognises and celebrates police, fire, ambulance, SES, marine rescue, and other first responder personnel, as well as the families who support them, acknowledging their dedication, resilience, and service to the community.
More landmarks will be added in the coming months. If your business or building would like to light up in teal, join us in turning Australia teal for Thank a First Responder Day 2026. Register your interest by contacting thankafirstresponder@fortemaustralia.org.au.
