About

Fortem Australia

We provide specialised mental health and wellbeing support to first responders and their families.

We are a national not-for-profit organisation using research and best practice to support people who work in national security and first responder roles.

First responder work is inherently stressful. In serving our community, first responders are at increased risk of harm. They experience higher rates of psychological distress, psychological disorders, and suicidal thoughts.
This is why we exist.

Fortem offers a range of free services to first responder families including:

 Since 2019 we have supported more than 13,000 first responders and their families across Australia:

of participants were more open to mental health support following an activity.

of participants with active PTSD symptoms showed reduction of symptoms to below diagnostic threshold following treatment.

Where we are

We are currently offering on-the-ground services in communities around Melbourne, Gippsland, South East NSW, Canberra, Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Sydney, Newcastle, NSW Mid North Coast, Northern NSW, South East Queensland, Brisbane, Townsville, Darwin, and Perth.

Our Wellbeing Resources are available to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
