The power of gratitude
Your resume is one of the most powerful tools in your professional journey—it tells your story, highlights your unique skills, and showcases what makes you the perfect fit for your next opportunity. Here are 3 big tips to help you write your own resume, leading you to become a top applicant in any recruitment process.
- Remember that documents may be read by a computer (ATS – applicant tracking systems) and not human eyes, so keep your layout simple. Remove any graphics, text boxes, charts or tables as content may be ignored or misinterpreted.
- Customise your resume to every job advert. Using a tailored resume for each job application improves ATS compatibility and shows genuine interest and enthusiasm for the position.
- Follow the instructions on the job advert. If it asks you to provide no more than a 3 page resume and 1 page cover letter, then condense or increase your document so it meets their requirements. If you need to address selection criteria and have been directed to read a document, you will progress to interview stage by doing so. Following these instructions demonstrates valuable qualities as a candidate, including attention to detail, reliability and respect for the company’s process.
