First responders, bring your colleagues and join our weekly running group where you’ll learn how to go from couch to running 5km, over 9 weeks. Set along the tranquil and flat paths within the CBD, this weekly running group provides an excellent opportunity for first responders to meet on a regular basis, build upon their endurance to run a 5km, and enjoy a coffee afterwards. This weekly wellbeing activity has been extended so that it’s even more inclusive where first responders have the option to go for a longer more continuous run (approximately 5kms) if they’ve already completed the couch to 5km program. In case it rains, there is wet weather contingency plan too. Participants must be approved by their GPs if they have any health or physical concerns and will need to sign a pre-exercise questionnaire prior to taking part in the running group.
This free wellbeing activity is for first responder families (check out who we serve here). Register yourself, and up to one other adult (your partner, family member, or someone from your inner circle). Encourage a first responder colleague to register too, or make connections on the day.
All Fortem Wellbeing Activities are underpinned by the 5 Ways to Wellbeing — a set of practical lifestyle habits which contribute to our overall mental fitness. This model by our partners at The Royal Melbourne Hospital is based on widely researched, effective strategies for improving mental health and wellbeing, and forms the foundation of all Fortem Australia events, programs, and activities.
