Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott commenced with South Australia Police in April 1987 and has enjoyed a wide variety of policing roles throughout his career including significant experience in tactical policing, counter terrorism and general duties policing in regional and metropolitan areas. He is an experienced senior SAPOL executive and leader with a strong outcome focus, and a consistent proven track record in enhancing public value.
Assistant Commissioner Parrott has a breadth of senior level management, leadership and command experience across a diverse range of SAPOL services including metropolitan and regional operations, road safety, emergency communications, counter terrorism and human resources. He also has significant senior level strategic project management and governance experience at organisation, State and National level.
He is the current Chairperson of the National Emergency Communications Working Group – Australia & New Zealand (NECWG-A/NZ) and the ANZPAA Road Policing Network (ARPN). Assistant Commissioner Parrott is also a member of other State and National committees relating to Regional Development; Aboriginal Affairs & Reconciliation; Public Safety Mobile Broadband; Triple Zero Coordination Committee; and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
Assistant Commissioner Parrott holds a range of qualifications including a Master of Business Administration, Strategic Human Resource Management, General Management and Emergency Management and is a Fellow – Governor’s Leadership Foundation Alumni. He has been awarded the South Australian Police Service Medal (30yr clasp); National Service Medal (+ clasp); and National Police Service Medal.
