Tyson is a current serving operational Acting Station Officer within Fire Rescue Victoria and an Australian Army Officer with over 20 years in frontline leadership, command and management appointments. His operational service includes deployments across the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Australia in both Warlike and Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief Operations.
Tyson is a graduate of The Royal Military College of Australia – Duntroon, Australian Defence College, Victorian Emergency Management and The Institution of Fire Engineers. Tyson holds a King’s Commission, a Master’s of Chinese & International Business Law and Master of Business Administration from The University of New South Wales, a Graduate of The Australian Institute of Company Directors and postgraduate qualifications in Leaderships & Fire and Emergency Management. Tyson is a former Governor of The Shrine of Remembrance Melbourne, Australia’s Veteran Speaker at the Lone Pine, Gallipoli ANZAC services and was recognised by the Governor General as one of Australia’s Emergency Services Community Officer’s of the Year and RSL ANZAC of Year.
Tyson continues to be an active community leader in discussing mental health and welfare, particularly supporting his fellow First Responders and Military Service Personnel in Suicide and Post Traumatic Stress Injury prevention, ensuring they receive appropriate welfare to keep them mentally fit for a life of longevity returning home healthy to their loved ones. His ongoing support extends to the wider Australian community with his in depth lived experience as a frontline leader managing onset trauma, coupled with loosing his serviceman grandfather, soldiers and first responder friends and colleagues to suicide and mental health challenges.
