Tyson Taylor

Tyson is a current serving operational Leading Firefighter within Fire Rescue Victoria and an Australian Army Officer with over 17 years in frontline leadership, command, and management appointments.

Tyson is a current serving operational Leading Firefighter within Fire Rescue Victoria and an Australian Army Officer with over 17 years in frontline leadership, command, and management appointments. His operational deployments include Afghanistan, providing protection and lifesaving medical treatment to the Afghan community as an executive officer commanding his forward patrol base and humanitarian assistance and disaster response efforts to the Australian Floods, COVID, and Bushfires.

Tyson is a graduate of The Royal Military College of Australia – Duntroon, Australian Defence College, Victorian Emergency Management Training Centre, Australian Institute of Company Directors, and The Institution of Fire Engineers.  Tyson holds a King’s Commission, Graduate Diploma’s in Strategic and Crisis Leadership, and an Advanced Diploma in Emergency Management. He is currently studying for his Masters of Business Administration (law) at the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of New South Wales. Tyson is a former Governor of The Shrine of Remembrance Melbourne and was recognised by the Governor General as one of Australia’s Emergency Services Officers of the Year in 2023.

Tyson continues to be an active community leader in discussing mental health and welfare, particularly supporting his fellow First Responders and Military Service Personnel in Suicide and Post Traumatic Stress Injury prevention, ensuring they receive appropriate welfare to keep them mentally fit for a life of longevity returning home healthy to their loved ones. His ongoing support extends to the wider Australian community with his in-depth lived experience as a frontline leader managing onset trauma, coupled with losing his serviceman grandfather, soldiers, and first responder friends and colleagues to suicide and mental health challenges.
