Walk, jog, or trudge 20km with us for a good cause. Be part of Walking Off The War Within in Darwin and help fight depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Join other Emergency Service Personnel, Defence Force Personnel and members of the public to walk in memory of Nathan Shanahan, a returned soldier and firefighter, and other fallen Service Men and Women who have taken their own lives after battling mental health issues. Nathan was a fierce advocate for mental health and PTSI. Sadly, Nathan lost his battle in December 2016. Walking Off The War Within is one way Nathan’s legacy continues.
The day is designed for families to enjoy together. We’re planning to have activities for kids to enjoy as well as a BBQ lunch.
This free community engagement is for first responder families (check out who we serve here). Register yourself, and up to one other adult and up to two children (your partner, children, family members, or someone from your inner circle). Encourage a first responder colleague to register too, or make connections on the day.
All Fortem Wellbeing Activities are underpinned by the 5 Ways to Wellbeing — a set of practical lifestyle habits which contribute to our overall mental fitness. This model by our partners at The Royal Melbourne Hospital is based on widely researched, effective strategies for improving mental health and wellbeing, and forms the foundation of all Fortem Australia events, programs, and activities.
Please register your interest in attending this activity by clicking on the Registration Form button below. Note, registration is not complete until you receive confirmation by email from the Fortem team.
