Media release: Fortem launches in Ballina to support first responders and their families

Fortem Australia today formally launched its services for first responders and their families in the Lismore, Ballina, and Byron Bay area.

The launch was held at the Ballina SES headquarters with Fortem Australia already recruiting Community Engagement Coordinators to support the mental health and wellbeing of first responders and their families.

Support is available for first responders who work or volunteer with organisations including the NSW Police Force NSW Fire Rescue NSW Ambulance Rural Fire Services, State Emergency Services NSW, and their immediate family members.

Chief Operating Officer and co-founder Darrin Lincoln who hosted the launch said Fortem has continued to grow and evolve since our organisaton was launched in 2019.

“As we continue to expand across the country, it is important we are meeting the needs of first responders and their families. The hardships experienced by most of the first responder community over the last few years, especially in the Ballina and Lismore region, have seen us grow into key regional areas.

“Thanks to the funding from the Albanese Government that was confirmed late last year, we have already supported over 10,000 first responders and their families and we will continue to build on the work that we have already done,” says Mr Lincoln.
