I would like to acknowledge our amazing first responders across all disciplines. On the 10th February, 2024, my youngest son Nick was involved in a skydiving accident in Darkan, WA. We were blessed, as being a public event, St John ambulance volunteers were in attendance and worked on Nick immediately, bringing him back. They were supported by Collie Paramedics and the incredible team from the RAC Rescue Chopper who stabilised Nick and transported him to RPH. Sadly, Nick suffered a catastrophic brain injury and despite best efforts of all involved he was placed on life support. Nick was a registered organ donor and due to the incredible effort of first responders, Nick’s heart is still beating strongly, both kidneys are functioning, two recipients have had their sight restored through donation of Nick’s corneas and over 30 recipients are benefitting from bone and tissue donation.
You all made this possible, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
